West Creek Media, armed with sunscreen, water, and the Clean Swell app, entered Will Rogers State Beach this past Saturday morning along with Heal the Bay, Gruen Associates (Thanks, Kevin, for being site captain), Girl Scouts, St. Genevieve School and other awesome community members to participate in International Coastal Cleanup Day. With nearly 800,000 volunteers worldwide helping to collect more than 18 million pounds of trash last year, this year’s effort is sure to be another success. Many thanks to everyone at Tower 15 (photo below) for braving the heat and making Will Rogers State Beach beautiful. Our site alone had: 270 volunteers, 60 of which brought their own supplies (thanks!), 146 pounds of trash collected, 40 pounds recyclables, and our most unusual item was a chessboard. International coastal cleanup occurs every third Saturday in September along more than 25,000 miles of coastal and inland shoreline.
West Creek Media was pleased to participate in Heal the Bay’s “Nothin’ But Sand” beach cleanup at Redondo Beach this past Saturday. Cleanups are held every third Saturday of the month from 10am-noon and are open to the public. Many thanks to everyone who donated their time.
For more information on how to get involved and where our next beach cleanup takes place, visit Heal the Bay.
Many thanks to the Chilao School! We thoroughly enjoyed your “Bear and Butterfly” event and look forward to participating in many more habitat restoration and wildlife education projects. See you soon, Smokey – we love you!
